SHILLONG: The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has issued a week’s deadline to the Government to order a CBI inquiry into the activities of IAS officer HM Shangpliang.
A delegation of BJYM met Chief Secretary Y Tsering on Friday and demanded that the officer be suspended for “breaching service rules” by attending a political meeting.
BJYM President Egenstar Kurkalang said the bureaucrat is misusing power by influencing people for political mileage and misleading them for his “well-wisher political party”.
It also demanded that various schemes implemented under Shangpliang be probed.
Shangpliang holds the posts of Secretary, GAD, Director, Social Welfare, Secretary to the Chief Adviser to the Government and Mission Director, National Health Mission and MHIS.
Tsering told the delegation that the matter will be looked into by the Government. The official is yet to resign from his posts though he is preparing to contest on Congress ticket.
“If the Government does not fulfil our demands, we will take other recourse,” he said. A video clip circulated recently showed the IAS officer taking part in a Congress meeting at Lawbah in Mawsynram.
