SHILLONG: More than Rs 15 lakh of central fund under an agricultural scheme has been misappropriated in East Jaintia Hills, according to an RTI reply.
Ebor Dkhar, headman of Moolamylliang village, lodged a complaint with the police that as per RTI findings, Rs 15.55 lakh was released under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture Rainfed Area Development in 2014-15 by the Agriculture Development Officer in Saipung Block to ghost beneficiaries.
The village committee on March 2 this year had decided to submit the list of farmers but as per the reply to the RTI filed by Marshal Biam of Ladrymbai village, a list from Moolamylliang was already submitted by unknown persons to the agriculture office.
The beneficiaries mentioned on the list are not from the village.
