3 stolen motorbikes recovered near Bangladesh border

TURA: West Garo Hills district police recovered three stolen motorcycles near Bangladesh border after a special team of police laid an ambush to intercept a gang of smugglers that was planning to sneak out the stolen motorbikes to Bangladesh. The bikes were recently stolen from Tura. However, the gang of smugglers managed to escape.

Police informed that a cross border gang had been active in this illegal trade of stolen motorbikes with the help of local criminals who commit the heist and handover the stolen goods to the gang that ship the materials across the international border in the dead of night.

Police have identified a jungle route used by the gang to transport the stolen bikes towards the international border via the forested and isolated Nokchi-Halchati border in Purakhasia area of West Garo Hills.

Meanwhile, police have issues a series of Dos and Don’ts to check theft of motorbikes.
