HYC protests Govt’s  apathy to their demands

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) staged a protest at the monument of U Tirot Sing Syiem here on Monday against the state government’s apathy towards fulfilling their demands.

The HYC had previously submitted a memorandum to the state government on their 14-point charter of demands which included introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, issuance of work permits, implementation of law on benami transaction etc.

Speaking at the gathering, Robert Kharjahrin, general secretary of HYC said, “We are back to the same battle. We will intensify our agitation if the state government fails to meet our demands.”

Prior, to the demonstration, they took out a rally from Dinam Hall, Jaiaw to IGP Point.
