Government officials, citizens rescue injured dog

SHILLONG: The residents of Nongrim Hills and Government agencies like the Shillong Municipal Board and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department rescued a dog in the city on Tuesday.
A resident of Nongrim Hills first heard the cry of the dog and found the injured animal inside a drain.
Attempts were made to rescue the dog but in vain. Finally one of the residents, Vicky Vadera called the police, 108 services and even the Forest department but all expressed their inability to help the dog.
Finally it was Shillong Municipal Board and personnel from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, who went out of their jurisdiction to rescue the dog.
The Municipal Board team rushed to the spot and rescued the dog, while officials from the Animal Husbandry department administered first aid to the animal.
A city resident earlier tried calling the dog lovers’ NGOs but did failed to get any response from them.
