Meghalaya police efforts crash as drugs sale continues

SHILLONG: The illegal sale of drugs by some in the capital city continues to thrive even at a time when police have heightened efforts to curb the menace which has greatly affected the society, especially the local youths of the State.
In a crackdown on Tuesday afternoon, two persons accused of selling drugs in the city was arrested from their residents at Nongrimmaw by Laitumkhrah police.
The police seized 0.69 grams of heroin form their possession along with one mobile phone.
The arrested persons have been identified as Aditya Lohar (36) and Sanjay Karma (35).
Police also recovered cash Rs. 3,400 from their possession.
In another instance, VDP volunteers of Mawlai Mawdatbaki on July 15 apprehended four persons identified as Marvinson Jyrwa, Jason Marbaniang, Manu Singh and Soni Singh from Mawlai Mawdatbaki, and recovered suspected heroin, one syringe and cash Rs. 26,013 from their possession.
Later, they were handed over to the police.
An FIR in this regard has been filed by B.R Kharmujai, Rangbah Shnong, Mawlai Mawdatbaki.
