SHILLONGThe Chief Minister Mukul Sangma pointed out that true spirit of democracy lied in fulfilling the aspirations of the people while referring to the project of Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture which is likely to be inaugurated in the month of December.

Speaking on the inauguration of Mawlai C & RD Block, he said that the Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture was a big project costing a whooping amount of Rs 150 crore.

Sangma said, “In a democracy, before we go to the elections, people must know what we have done, because it is the responsibility of the politicians to keep the promises made to the people.”

He added that whatever promises made by political parties through their election manifesto should remain the guiding principle of different political parties. “When we go to the elections, we must promise only what we can do,” he said.
