Measures to curb online child sexual abuse

SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the Ministry of Electronic & Information Technology (Cyber Laws & E-Security Group) through a notification has directed all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to adopt and implement International Watch Foundation (IWF) Resources on or before July 31, 2017 to prevent the  distribution and transmission of online child sexual abuse materials into India and also to continue to observe the existing due diligence requirements prescribed by government under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and Rules and Regulations including the obligation to expeditiously remove or disable access to any unlawful content.

According to the Deputy Commissioner matters pertaining to website/ page on child sexual abuse materials reported/found to be available in any online platform may be brought to the notice of the Special Superintendent of Police (CID), Meghalaya, email address [email protected] along with adequate material such as snapshot, print screen, URLs, etc., so that further necessary action can be taken for removal /disabling of the content with the Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
