Vanamohatsava observed at Nongstoin with planting of sapling

NONGSTOIN: The office of the Divisional Officer (Social Forestry) West Khasi Hills celebrated Vanamohatsava (festival of planting trees) on Thursday at Sacred Heart Secondary School Mawlangdep village by planting of saplings in the school campus.

A meeting was organized in the school premises which were attended by all the teachers, students and officials of different line departments of the State Government.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, P Marbaniang, former Deputy Director IPR department laid emphasis on the importance of judicious and proper application of each one’s mental capacity in relation to survival of mankind and the ecological system in its entirety.

Others who spoke were C Nongsiej teacher, Rev Father Paul, C Ran, ACF who presided over the meeting.  S K Budnah, DFO, explained in detail about the significance of the programme.

The programme for the day was concluded by Tree planting in the school campus.
