Garo Hills fighters shine at state Taekwondo tourney

TURA: Fighters from Garo Hills have once again brought laurels to the region by bagging medals at the 2nd MTA Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship and 1st MTA Open Poomsae Taekwondo Championship organized recently at J N Sports Complex Indoor Stadium, Polo in Shillong.

The championships were organized in collaboration with the All East Khasi Hills Taekwondo Association.

The Don Bosco Secondary Taekwondo School in Tura came up with the highest number of medals for Garo Hills with Patricia A Sangma, Elsha B Marak and Kemasa Ch Marak each winning Gold, Tengsime M Sangma, Nambea D Marak, Avera G Momin, Anthony Marak, Damsel Ch Sangma and Mikkimrado Ch Marak winning Silver medals and Dilsang Ch Marak, Marny Walnora Ch Marak, Ezelia A Sangma, Clarret Rattasa A Sangma and Rikamchuak Sangma winning the Bronze.

Other medal winners for Garo Hills were fighters belonging to the East Garo Hills Taekwondo Association who included Osmond T Sangma (Gold), Agate Sangma (2 Gold and one Silver in Poomsae individual, Poomsae mixed pair and Kyrugi respectively), Yuvraj D Sangma (Gold), Rapse Sangma (Silver), Tusan Milam Sangma (Silver) and Jaksal Arime T Sangma (Silver).

There were other medal winners from North Garo Hills District as well but the list of names was unavailable.
