SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has re notified Meena Kharkongor as the chairperson of the reconstituted State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR).

Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma said that the tenure of the Commission had expired   and   the Social Welfare department informed the Cabinet that it was very difficult to get potential and eligible members for the Commission.

The department, however, on Friday justified the new panel for reconstitution of the Commission before the Cabinet but the Cabinet asked the department to further examine the names.

The Cabinet, however, decided to re-constitute the Commission   with   three names so far including the chairperson and two members.

The Commission will have one chairperson and six members.
