TURA: As part of the on-going statewide special drive  under the theme ‘Mission Unite – You and I towards enrollment’, a series of awareness-cum-enrollment programmes were organized in the past few weeks at various polling stations in and around West Garo Hills (WGH) District.

The programmes which aimed to enroll left out voters of the state were conducted by the Electoral Registration Officers and AERO in all government and private educational and vocational training institutes.

In addition, door-to-door campaign to collect Form 6 and complete verification and other necessary procedures were carried out by the Booth Level Officers.

It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India has launched this special drive from July 1 this year for maximization of registration of eligible electors with focus on left out eligible young citizens in the age group of 18-19. During this special drive, which will be completed by July 31, special attention is being given on following two activities by election officials in all state, namely receiving Form 6 for enrolment of new electors and removal of names of registered dead electors, if found any, from the electoral rolls.
