Section 144 Cr PC promulgated at Wah Lyngiong

SHILLONG: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has by an order promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting washing of sands, boulders and vehicles along the stretch of Wah Lyngiong, East Khasi Hills District, a government communique said.

The Order has been issued in view that some people are engaged in washing of sands, boulders and vehicles, all along the stretch of Wah Lyngiong, East Khasi Hills District.  The order mentioned that reports received from the members of  Dorbar Shnong Phanniewlah Rum, said that such activities were going on, in spite of various steps taken by the Dorbar to curtail the menace and that if such act of polluting the river was allowed to continue it was likely to cause health hazards and also affect the environment of the areas around.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect throughout the entire areas specified above and until further orders.
