Research in nursing will help improve healthcare: Chief Secretary

SHILLONG: A three-day second national conference under the theme: “Knowing Research Basics: The Path Towards Quality Education, Administration and Practice” organized by the College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS got underway on Thursday  at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.

Chief Secretary, Y Tsering lights the ceremonial lamp to mark the inauguration of the second National Conference at NEIGRIHMS in Shillong.

Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Y. Tsering graced the inaugural function as chief guest. Tsering said that undertaking a research in nursing which if applied and put into practice would go a long way in addressing various healthcare issues that are prevalent in the society. He also said that nursing being one of the main components in the healthcare sector, was responsible for delivering quality health care services to the people.

 

While congratulating the nurses for their dedication, hardwork and unending services to the society, Tsering urged the nursing students to learn and imbibe themselves from the deliberations of the resources persons during the 3-day conference and to incorporate those learnings into their research studies.

 

Others who spoke at the inaugural function included Dr. K Reddemma, nodal officer, INC Consortium, Prof. (Dr) D M Thappa, Director, NEIGRIHMS, Prof. (Dr) A C Phukan, Dean, NEIGRIHMS and Ms C E Myrthong, Principal, College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS.
