SHILLONG: The State Government is not happy with the presentation given by Accenture, which is preparing the detailed project report of the proposed IT Park, and has asked the company to add more components to it.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Minister in charge of Information Technology Ampareen Lyngdoh said last week Chief Minister Mukul Sangma reviewed the progress of the proposed IT Park.
Though the DPR is in the final stage, the State Government has asked the firm to incorporate components like eatery, hospitality requirements, convention centres and BPOs, among other things, to make the proposed park more attractive, the minister said.
“The Government and the firm will have some more sittings before finally approving the project,” she added.
Last week’s meeting also deliberated on how resources would be generated for the massive project that aims to provide job opportunities to hundreds of locals.
The project requires huge investment of around Rs 500 crore. The setting up of the technology park is complicated as the State has to compete with metro cities like Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata and the Department is also contemplating road shows to invite IT players after the Government okays the final model.
)The State Government has allotted about 80 acre of land in New Shillong Township of which 10 acre has been allotted to NEILIT for setting up a training institute.
