TURA: Lok Sabha MP Conrad Sangma raised the issue of the Regional Vocational Training Institute (RVTI), which is in need of assistance, during the question hour in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
RVTI in Tura was sanctioned during the tenure of late PA Sangma as a parliamentarian representing Garo Hills who was also the then labour minister in the Union Government.
The institute has been facing a series of problems pertaining to its functioning, including the non-appointment of a permanent principal for the past couple of years.
The shortfall in trained faculty at the institute coupled with lack of renovation of the infrastructure has been an issue for both students and teachers.
Sometime ago, a delegation from RVTI had met Conrad Sangma to apprise him of the problems.
