6 non-civic areas get garbage vehicles

SHILLONG: The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) on Saturday distributed garbage collection vehicles to six non-municipal localities in the Shillong urban conglomeration.
The vehicles, funded by the Asian Development Bank’s North Eastern Regional Capital Cities Development and Investment Programme, were handed over to six localities – Pynthorbah Golflink, Pynthorumkhrah, Lum Shyiap, Lumpyngngad, Nongrah and Mawlynrei.
Commissioner and Secretary of Urban Affairs Department Meghalaya FR Kharkongor handed over the keys to members of respective Dorbar Shnong in the function.
The six localities were given the garbage collection vehicles by Shillong Municipal Board to enhance waste management infrastructure in non-municipal areas of the city and its outskirts.
