Coal extractions continue in JH

SHILLONG: Despite the NGT ban, cases of coal extraction and transportation continue to take place in the Jaintia Hills region.
Speaking on the matter, West Jaintia Hills SP R Muthu said that most of the coal mines are located in East Jaintia Hills, however, police is conducting vehicle checking continuously and the vehicles that transport coal are seized and the drivers are arrested immediately.
Coal laden truck seized
Meanwhile on Sunday, around 10.30 pm, during Naka checking at Mawlai, GS Road, , Police signaled one truck (AS-01FC-2713) to stop, but the driver refused and sped away.
Following this, the police chased the truck and intercepted it, however, the driver managed to flee. During checking, it was found that the truck was loaded with coal.
