SHILLONG: A member of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) who allegedly murdered his sister-in-law in June and escaped, has surrendered in Bajendoba police station.
Whilster Marak was produced in a local court in Resubelpara after his arrest on Monday, North Garo Hills SP Dalton Marak said.
Whilster, who was an adviser to the federation, allegedly beat his sister-in-law Medinchi K. Sangma (22) to death on June 12 and fled the place. He is from Mendima in Kharkutta.
Later, the Garo Hills zonal president of FKJGP had denied that Whilster was the federation’s member.
The accused had slapped Medinchi and then kicked her following an altercation between her and Whilster’s wife. Her ribs were broken causing her death.
