SHILLONG: Pre-poll allies UDP and HSPDP will have a few common agenda despite both the parties having their own issues to be raised during the polls.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, UDP president Donkupar Roy said besides the agenda that both the parties want to take up separately, the issues of common interest will be framed in a joint meeting of the parties.
Asked about the differences among a few legislators over seat-sharing with HSPDP, Roy said the grievances will be solved internally.
Earlier, UDP Mawkynrew legislator Remington Pyngrope revolted against the party chief by saying all the eight party MLAs should have been given free seats to contest.
What annoyed Pyngrope was that his constituency was declared an open seat where he has to contest against HSPDP candidate.
Other open seats where UDP have sitting MLAs are Sohra (Titosstarwell Chyne) and Mawthadraishan (Brolding Nongsiej).
However, Roy said the party had to make some sacrifices for the good of all.
He also denied any move on the part of some UDP legislators to leave the party.
“The party legislators are all united,” Roy said.
