TURA: The Congress-led alliance in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) headed by Chief Executive Member Boston Marak has on Friday announced the distribution of council portfolios to 10 members of his new Executive Committee.

Interestingly, one of the key rebels who engineered the split in the NPP-BJP-GNC alliance, Asanang MDC Ismail Marak, failed to find a berth in the new Executive Committee.
Marak had won the GHADC elections on a Congress ticket but later joined BJP and became a part of the NPP-BJP-GNC alliance.
He again switched allegiance to the Congress by joining hands with rebel NPP MDC Boston Marak and three other members,
namely GNC’s Wenison Ch Marak, Congress rebel Dormonath Ch Sangma and Independent Righteous N Sangma.
The previous NPP led alliance headed by Denang T Sangma fell after its own party member and Chairman of the council Boston walked over to the opposition Congress camp with four other rebels reducing the alliance into a minority.
The Congress returned to power with Boston Marak being made the new CEM, two weeks ago.
