SHILLONG:  Civil Society woman organization (CSWO) has demanded action against the South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai for allegedly manhandling of a woman.

CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing while   strongly condemning the manhandling of a woman and lessee of Four Season’s Guest House, H Passah, by Sanbor Shullai   also condemned the communally-biased acts of the legislator for kicking  and throwing out the non-tribal candidates, who hail from the neighbouring states from the  guest house.

“Such inhuman acts by a sitting legislator is unexpected and shall not be tolerated in the civilized society. The authorities should take stern action against the erring MLA as per the law of the land, so as to also deter others in power from committing such inhuman acts in future, as the law is expected to be equal for everyone, irrespective of power or status,” Kharshiing said.

CSWO   has also suggested that the Army authorities should provide at least entry to candidates who come from faraway areas  into the army area, for the night, as they called  thousands of candidates in a day which is impossible to be accommodated outside in civil areas.

“The campus should be made accessible with proper toilets for such large recruitment drives on humanitarian grounds, Kharshiing said.
