SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Mawlai circle, has assured the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) that it would take up their grievances before the state and central governments.
In a meeting with the ASHAs at Mawlai Basic School on Saturday, KHNAM leaders expressed concern over the fact that despite shouldering heavy workload, the health workers were paid a monthly salary of just Rs 1000.
Meghalaya has over 6,000 ASHA workers and 300 ASHA supervisors who work under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Underlining the significance of proper healthcare services delivered by ASHA workers, KHNAM called upon the state government to turn its attention to their plight.
