SP MLC Ashok Bajpai resign from UP Council

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party general secretary and MLC Ashok Bajpai today resigned from the party and the Council.
A close confidant of SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mr Bajpai tendered his resignation to Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav here.
Mr Bajpai is the fifth MLC to resign from the Council within a fortnight, including four from the principal opposition SP.
The SP leader, though had not joined the BJP like others who resigned from the MLC, said he was hurt with the treatment meted out to Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav and thus was resigning from the MLC. The MLC term of Mr Bajpai was to be expired on January 30, 2021.
Surprisingly, all the four SP MLCs who had resigned were close to Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav. The three SP MLCs who had resigned earlier and joined the BJP are — Bhukal Nawab, Yashwant Singh and Dr Sarojni Agarwal. The lone BSP MLC who resigned and joined the BJP was Thakur Jaiveer Singh. UNI
