TURA: A meeting between the state unit leaders of United Democratic Party (UDP) and their counterparts from Garo Hills to discuss the party’s preparations for the upcoming 2018 Assembly polls was held on Tuesday evening here at the Council of Nokmas conference hall in Tura.
The meeting was attended by UDP State president Dr Donkupar Roy, Bindo M Lanong, State vice-president Alan Dkhar, working president Mahamsing M Sangma, district president Utpal Arengh, youth wing working president Utjol Sangma, State youth wing joint secretary Anand M Marak and a host of other leaders from Garo Hills.
Speaking during the meeting, UDP’s State president, Dr Donkupar Roy while predicting the party’s success in the Khasi and Jaintia hills in the Assembly polls, urged his counterparts from Garo Hills to work hard to ensure that the same success is achieved. Dr Roy also predicted that the UDP along with other regional parties would form the government post 2018.
Bindo M Lanong, while questioning the achievements of the Mukul Sangma-led Congress in the last eight years, said that the people should be made aware of the situation in the state. He urged the leaders from Garo Hills to work together so that the party achieves maximum success in the elections.
