New Delhi:  Indian Youth Congress(IYC), along with National Students Union of India (NSUI), today marched towards Parliament and staged a protest in the capital against the policies of the NDA government. Leading the ‘Bharat Bachao Andolan’, Congress bigwigs, including Ahmed Patel, Raj Babbar and CP Joshi, said that on August 10, 1947, Mahatma Gandhi forced Britishers to leave India with ‘Quit India Andolan’, now its time for half pants (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) to leave India.
The protest was held at Jantar Mantar to counter the government on issues of women safety, farmers, GST, youth unemployment, soldiers dying at borders and mob lynching, among others. Addressing mediapersons and hundreds of party workers, Mr Patel said, “Jaise Gandhi ji ne naara diya tha ki angrezon Bharat chhodo, hum bhi kehte hain BJP gaddee chhodo.” Talking about the victory in Gujarat Rajya Sabha election, he said, “This win has filled new energy in Congress, I am sure we will win Gujarat also. BJP made it a prestige issue, it is their loss.” NSUI state president Fairoz Khan and IYG president Amarinder Singh Raja, along with Congress workers from Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, also participated in the march. Addressing the workers, Mr Raja said, “The daughters of the country are feeling insecure from the heirs of the ruling party. The government, which started Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, is to be blamed for the vulnerable condition of woman safety in the country.” He further said, on one hand, the soldiers are dying in the name of duty on sensitive borders of the country, while on the other hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi is happily enjoying trips to Pakistan and China.” (UNI)
