Ambassa (Tripura): Panic gripped Gandacherra subdivision after IPFT’s protest rally in the town allegedly with extreme communal overtures. In the rally, IPFT leaders publicly made highly inflammatory statements and accusations against non-tribal. According to report, simmering tension and panic had been there for the last few days in the wake of murder of a tribal student Karnasingh Tripura (14), which turned the situation tensed further. The IPFT today staged a protest rally demanding stringent punishment and Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of Karnasingh Tripura who was found murdered near New Bhagirath Colony under Gandacherra police station last week. Police arrested two youth- Sishu Ranjan Sarkar (40), and Subrata Sarkar (30), of the locality suspecting their involvement in the murder. Now, they are in judicial custody. However, IPFT had been trying to infuse communal hatred into the case to take the advantage of the situation. The police administration mobilised extra force to cease the tension but opposition Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) has launched movement against police alleging them of shielding the criminal because the accused persons were from the ruling CPI-M. Karnasingh of New Bhagirath Colony had gone mission on August 3 last and on the next day his body was found in a jungle near his house. The IPFT stirred the road demanding probe and arrest of the murderer giving an ultimatum of 24 hours. The SDPO Gandacherra, Jahar Lal Debbarma claimed that police enforced all possible means to nab the culprit. Already some suspicious youths were detained but found no clue. (UNI)
