150 students complete career programme

SHILLONG: As many as 150 students of Nongstoin College were felicitated on August for completing a Soft Skills and Career Readiness training intervention sponsored by the Meghalaya Education Department’s RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) Programme.
The classes which featured students of the 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters of the college were conducted and co-ordinated by the Shillong based Group Avenues. The graduation programme was chaired by the Principal, B K Laitflang, who commended Group Avenues for the “personal connection and good work of human values and confidence” imbibed and implemented during the programme.
Other speakers at the ceremony also included the Chief Guest Rangksan Mawroh, Principal Consultant, RUSA and Mark Laitflang Stone, Managing Director of Group Avenues.
Mawroh applauded the efficient implementation of the project.
Mark Laitflang Stone expressed his gratitude to RUSA for providing rural and suburban students with inclusive and equitable access to higher learning opportunities. The initiative was launched on July 6 this year and students took part in a set of workshops and modules covering a range of life and career related skills and disciplines across a month of classes.
Group Avenues is at the helm of similar campus based initiatives in Nongtalang College, West Jaintia Hills, Tura Government College, West Garo Hills and Williamnagar College, East Garo Hills.
