SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has yet again staged a protest prior to the foundation laying of Shillong Government College of Engineering at the campus of Shillong Polytechnic on Friday.

Asserting that there are pending demands of the HYC which the state government refuse to address, Rhembor Saibon, assistant secretary of HYC said, “If the state government continues to maintain silence, we will look at other ways and means later.”

Stating the district administration has not allowed them to carry placards or shout slogans with the promulgation of Section144 CrPC, he said, ” We will comply with the law as long as we can tolerate.”

He added that the HYC would keep pushing their demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP) and other demands as contained in its 14-point charter of demands.

It may be noted that HYC has protested against the state government for the third consecutive day on Friday ever since the launched of its Save Hynniewtrep Mission.

The HYC protested at Mawkhar on Wednesday, Ranikor on Thursday and Mawlai on Friday.
