Patna : Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his “undemocratic move” of breaking the Grand Alliance in the state.

He also refuted reports that some party MLAs are likely to join the ruling JD-U.
“Nitish Kumar’s decision to join hands with the BJP to form government after dumping the Grand Alliance is against the principles and values of democracy,” Scindia, a former Union Minister and Congress MP, told the media here.
Nitish Kumar dumped the Grand Alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress on July 26 and aligned with the BJP to form government on July 27.
Scindia was in the state capital on a day-long visit to attend a meeting of the party that aims to strengthen its reach among the people.
“Bihar is a state known for its principles. People of Bihar will reply to Nitish Kumar for his decision.”
He said the 2015 Bihar Assembly poll mandate was for the Grand Alliance of Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal-United and it was against the BJP-led NDA.
“But contrary to the mandate given by the people, Nitish Kumar joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party and formed the government,” he added.
Scindia also refuted reports of any split in the party’s state unit.
Slamming media reports, Scindia said: “Congress is united and intact and will remain so in future.”
Local media reported that the Congress party in Bihar may go the Gujarat way as some party legislators were likely to join the ruling JD-U. (IANS)
