Pall of gloom descends on death of IAS officer

Guwahati, Aug 11 (UNI) Senior IAS officer Mukesh Pandey who allegedly committed suicide in the national capital yesterday had made Assam proud by securing 14th position in IAS examination and his sudden death came as a shock for people of the state. As the shocking news of his suicide arrived, a pall of gloom descended in Bamunimaidan locality in Guwahati where Pandey’s house is located.
Deceased Pandey studied at Faculty Higher Secondary School in North Guwahati upto Class X and then did his Higher Secondary from Maria’s Public School at Birkuchi in the city.He did his BA (Hons) in English from Cotton College.
“At 5.48 i got a whatsapp message that he has checked into a hotel and planning to commit suicide. informed police immediately and thereafter i got the news of his death through newschannel,” Dr Sudeshwar Pandey father of deceased Pandey said. Pandey, who secured the 14th rank, is the son of Dr Sudeshwar Pandey and homemaker Geeta Pandey, who are residents of Ananda Nagar in New Guwahati. Pandey was posted as the District Magistrate in the Buxar district of Bihar. Pandey committed suicide at a railway station in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.His body was recovered from the tracks of the railway station. The twitter handler of IAS Association expressed condolence over the death of the IAS officer and tweeted, “Shocking news of sad & untimely demise of Mukesh Pandey, IAS, DM Buxar, Bihar. Deepest condolences and may the departed soul Rest in Peace.” UNI
