SHILLONG: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her own father.
Earlier, there was no FIR filed either by the mother or by any government authority.
The accused, Bresswell Kharumnuid was picked up by the police on the night of July 9 and was released the next day.
Following the incident, the woman police officer of Madanriting had written to the office of the Medical Health Officer, Ganesh Das Hospital for medico-legal examination and opinion.
The CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, who lodged the FIR said that she along with a member of Impluse NGO network met the victim on Friday and she confirmed the aberrations.
They also met the head teacher of the school of the victim.
The neighbours, quoting the mother of the victim, also told the visiting team about the incident.
The complainant wanted the police to arrest the accused immediately.
