Teachers’ body calls for revised salary

SHILLONG: Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has shot off a petition to the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), Ambrose Marak, urging for rectification of Junior Teachers’ Training Certificate (JTTC), Diploma in Education, DIET, Training Certificate Examination and 45 per cent in class XII as per NCTE norms.
The MSSASA stated that the SSA teachers teaching at elementary level, lower primary and upper primary section, who have acquired and completed the JTTC, DIET, were not entitled as the trained/qualified teachers, and they have also been denied to avail the revised pay of the financial year 2016-17.
The teachers are getting a pay of Rs 14,392 instead of Rs 20, 493 for upper primaryand Rs 19,044 instead of Rs 13,335 for lower primary. In this connection, the MSSASA has requested Marak to take up the matter of revised pay of the teachers so that further agitation of the teachers can be averted.
