NEEPCO lights 18k BPL houses in Tripura

Sonamura (Tripura): The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCo) has modernised the life of 17.6 thousand rural BPL families in two districts of Tripura under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUJY), D C Das, DGM of Manarchak Power Project informed here on Thursday.
He said according to record, Tripura had about one lakh households where electricity was not reached till last financial year.
The villagers have always used either illegal electric hook lines or kerosene for lighting purposes.
To provide electric power supply to the families residing in the villages of Sepahijala and South Tripura districts Manarchak Power Project has volunteered to implement DDUGJY project in the villages of the districts, he stated.
NEEPCO has finished the entire job with bare minimum manpower on time, D C Das, DGM of Manarchak Power Project further added. (UNI)
