State boy drowns in K’taka

SHILLONG: A student from Meghalaya drowned in the sea near Gokarna beach in Karnataka while trying to save two tourists on Monday and his body was recovered on Tuesday.
According to a Karnataka-based website, the student, Wanteilang Jyrwa (23), was a first year MSC student at Mysuru’s All India Institute of Speech and Hearing.
Altogether seven students from the college had gone to Gokarna beach and on seeing two tourists drowning, Jyrwa jumped into the water to save them, but a tide washed him away.
A case was registered by the local police there.
