NONGSTOIN: A group of armed GNLA cadres assaulted five persons in a West Khasi Hills village on Thursday, a day after SF-10 commandos busted a hideout.
Sources said the militants, who came to Dymmit village around 11.30am, suspected the villagers to be police informers after the commandos sniffed out the hideout on Wednesday. But the GNLA cadres managed to escape after exchange of fire.
Shallang police and SF-10 personnel later lodged a search operation in to the nearby forest but with no result.
The injured villagers are admitted in Shallang PHC. A case has been registered in this regard.
The security personnel had recovered ammunition, mobile phones and a satellite phone, among other things, from the GNLA hideout on Wednesday.
