TURA: The A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) from Garo Hills has once again urged Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma to set up a State Government run university in Garo Hills.

The association recently met Dr Sangma at his official residence in Shillong where the demand for the university was made.

“The state of Meghalaya is 45 years old but it is unfortunate that we do not have a government run university till today. Despite knowing the importance of education the state government has failed to establish a single university which is a shame,” the ASWA said.

Stating that NEHU is not enough to accommodate all the aspiring students, the association urged the Chief Minister to initiate steps for the same while also appealing for cooperation from all legislators on the issue.
