SHILLONG: A woman of Quinine village in Ri Bhoi district was allegedly forced to close down her poultry shop after the Dorbar Shnong prohibited her from doing any business in the village for five years.
The woman identified as Perisha Dewsaw, a mother of three, on Saturday said that the Dorbar Shnong suspended her from doing any business after somebody alleged that she was found drinking in a mill.
The decision was taken on May but she is finding it difficult to run the family now as she has no other means of earning.
“I was not drinking and the Dorbar Shnong suspended my business on the allegation of someone without giving me any opportunity to clarify my stand,” she said.
On the other hand, Rangbah Shnong Bhastar Lyngdoh alleged that the woman was indulging in immoral activities and she was even warned before but she did not mend her ways which forced the Dorbar Shnong to take the stringent action against her.
While pointing out that the Dorbar Shnong has recently received her apology letter, he added that there will be a dorbar on next Tuesday to discuss the matter and take a call on the matter.
