Baljek airport to be revived in UDAN Phase II

SHILLONG: The Union Government would connect the defunct Baljek airport at Tura with the rest of the region under the phase II of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme.

Informing this here on Tuesday, Tura MP, Conrad Sangma said the Civil Aviation Ministry has confirmed that the Baljek airport would be taken up in the phase II of UDAN scheme.

Shillong airport located at Umroi is being taken up under the phase I of the scheme.

Sangma said that he recently took up the matter with the Union Minister of State, Civil Aviation and they would send the confirmation about the assurance in writing shortly.
