Training on Cyber Security and Cyber Crime held at Ampati

TURA: A two-day training programme on “Cyber Security & Cyber Crime” organized by South West Garo Hills district administration in collaboration with MATI, Shillong for government officials of the district, concluded here on Tuesday afternoon.

 

The training was conducted by officials of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Shillong, including Addl. State Informatics Officer, Shekhar Dey, Technical Director, NIC, Harvest Synrem and Network Administrator, NIC, Manoj Sharma. During the two-day session, they deliberated on topics like concepts and processes of cyber security, cyber forensics, case studies on cybercrime and cyber terrorism, network management, parameters and principles for secure infrastructure, how to safeguard and mitigate risks of social media and IT Act, 2000.

The district officials were also given a refresher course on computer and networking & Internet with basic components of computer & types of memories, booting process, registry, network components, overview of Internet, IP address & operating system and data storage basics to update their basic knowledge of computer and internet. The training programme concluded with a deliberation on e-District Services using Service Plus by Technical Director, Harvest Synrem. Every session was followed by an interaction between the resource persons and the participants.

Earlier during a short inaugural session on Monday morning, Deputy Commissioner C.V.D. Diengdoh briefed the participants and said that in this digital age it is important for all district officers to keep themselves abreast with technology and the modern day virtual world. He urged upon the participants to make full use of this training programme to equip themselves with the basic knowledge of computer and networking and also safeguard themselves from cyber-related crimes.

Additional Deputy Commissioner M.T. Sangma and EACs, W.R.G. Momin and F. Boro, were also present to facilitate the discussions and interactions during the two-day training.
