World Badminton C’ship: Saina enters pre-quarters

Glasgow, Aug 23 (UNI) Ace India shuttler Saina Nehwal sailed into the pre-quarters of the ongoing World Badminton Championship here today.
Saina Nehwal, who had received a first-round bye, secured an easy win over Sabrina Jaquet of Switzerland on the third day of the tournament. The world No 16 outclassed her Swiss opponent 21-11, 21-12 in the women’s singles event.
Saina will now face the winner between India’s Tanvi Lad and second seed Korean Sung Ji Hyun in the third round.
Later in the day, B Sai Praneeth, Kidambi Srikanth, Tanvi, Lad, Rituparna Das, Ajay Jayaram and Sameer Verma will play their matches. UNI
