SHILLONG: The Garo Students’ Union (Khasi Hills Zone) has shot off a complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take stern action and terminate the service of Prakash Chettri, a police constable for allegedly assaulting and outraging the modesty of a woman recently.
The union also alleged that Chettri trespassed, destructed the property of Lorzina D. Marak, a senior resident of Bishnupur who had recently retired from the police department.
They went on to allege that Chettri threatened and assaulted her children, Sunmoon Marak and Thinku Marak.
GSU said that the police constable violated the amendment of The Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities), by verbally abusing the Garo community. Condemning the ‘atrocity which is unbearable to the Garo community’, the union has demanded that strong action should be taken against him.
