SHILLONG: The state government is yet to send an official directive to the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) to halt work at Tetelia-Byrnihat though construction stopped immediately after violent protests in May.
An NFR official said they are yet to receive any intimation from the government about stopping the project.
“Only local authorities in Ri Bhoi tell us not to resume work as the situation is not good,” the official said, adding that the railways would suffer losses if the project is delayed and the matter is being discussed at NFR.
