TURA: A two-day training programme on ‘Cyber Security and Cyber Crime’ organised by South West Garo Hills District Administration in collaboration with MATI, Shillong, for government officials of the district, concluded here on Tuesday afternoon. The training was conducted by officials of National Informatics Centre. District officials were briefed on computer and networking and internet with basic components. Deputy Commissioner CVD Diengdoh said in this digital age it is important for all district officers to keep themselves abreast with technology.
Incomplete road irks residents
TURA: Residents of Nongbak Apal and its adjoining areas under Mangsang in East Garo Hills are disappointed over the slow progress of work on the Mangsang-Nongbak Apal road that is being constructed under the Prime Minister’s rural roads scheme. Locals said construction of the road started in May 2009 and is dragging on for eight years. Stating that students of the area are the worst-affected due to the incomplete road, the residents have urged authorities concerned as well as the state government to look into the matter.
VEC meeting held
Shillong: The Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, P Sampath Kumar on Tuesday held a meeting with members of the Village Employment Council at the Multi Purpose Hall, Deputy Commissioner Office, South West Khasi Hills, Mawkywat. During the meeting, Kumar interacted with the people and discussed about their problems and experiences, he also shared his ideas and suggestions on how to develop and expand their livelihood activities. He laid stress on the need of creating more SHGs to improve livelihood.
