TURA: Former Rajya Sabha MP, Thomas A Sangma said that knowledge of science, mathematics and technology is essential to students in this age of computers at the inaugural function of the science, mathematics and environment exhibition held at St. Xaviers Secondary School here on Thursday.
Sangma said that the education department has to come up with new policies as mere degrees are not enough.
He said that skills need to be taught in schools and programmes such as science exhibitions should be organized more frequently.

Youth Cong office bearers elected
TURA: The general meeting of the West Garo Hills district Youth Congress was held recently at Congress Bhavan in Tura where its new office bearers were elected with Andriano N Marak as president, Emphong N Sangma as general secretary, Chesrang R Marak as organizing secretary and other executive members.

SHILLONG: NPP North Shillong Legislative Assembly Constituency Committee has approved the list of office bearers of the party with Chairman (Shairphar Rani) as president, D. Gordon Kharchandy as working president, Scarden Marbaniang (Bah Pappu), as advisor and Spokesperson, Erwin K. Syiem Sutnga, among others.
Functionaries were also appointed for youth wing, women’s wing. There are 11 joint secretaries, 14 executive members representing 39 polling stations were also appointed.
