Addressing a small gathering, John Lyngdoh, vice president, HYC Shillong city, said that the pressure group was taking peaceful methods to push forward its movement of Save Hynniewtrep Mission.

“However, we notice that the state government is indifferent to our demands. It seems that the state government wants war,” he said.

Lyngdoh warned that things would take an ugly turn if the youths run out of patience which will prompt the state government to take action against them and book them under different sections of the law.

Some of the placards that were put up read, “We choose identity over development. Implement ILP in Meghalaya,” .. “Mukul Sangma..by inaugurating foundation stone.. you did nothing great..you simply took our money (tax and fine) and return the same to us. Stop fooling us but do something important by legislating law, i.e. ILP.”
