Iewduh to be closed on August 31

SHILLONG: The acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem and the Dorbar Hima have announced that Iewduh, will be closed on August 31 as a public meeting will be held at Students’ Field, Jaiaw to discuss on the need for cleanliness in the traditional market.
Paiem Ricky Nelson Syiem, Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem, told reporters, “We have announced and call upon everyone to attend the meeting as we see there is an urgent need to make Iewduh clean and beautiful.”
He added that there will be a resource person who will enlighten the people about the laws pertaining to cleanliness and punitive actions taken against violators. The shopkeepers have been blamed for their irresponsibility to throw waste like rotten vegetables from their shops which piles up in heaps of filth emanating foul smell.
