SHILLONG: After a gap of few weeks, an incident of arson has been reported in the city once again. Unidentified miscreants threw a patrol bomb at the residence of one Joydeep Sharma at Upper Mawprem at around 2.30 A.M. on Saturday, police informed.
However, there was neither any damage to the property nor any injury to anyone in the incident. Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills district, Davis Marak said police suspected two angles to the fresh incident of patrol bomb attack in the city.
The SP said Saturday’s incident might be handiwork of some of the arsonists who were released on bail or there might be political rivalry behind the incident.
Upper Mawprem area falls under West Shillong Legislative Assembly Constituency where stage is set for direct fight between United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Paul Lyngdoh and Congress’ Mohendro Rapsang.
