SHILLONG: Phase III of Megha Health Insurance Scheme is being well received by the people of the state and in a short span of time, claims more than Rs 4 crore have been made by the patients.
MHIS-III has been designed to fully integrate with the existing public health system in the State and to expand the number and quality of specialty and super specialty hospitals empanelled under the scheme.
Sources said that people are coming out in large numbers to utilise MHIS services even as it was informed that more than 3.40 lakh households in the state have already enrolled under the phase III of the scheme.
The target is to enroll 8.86 lakh households and the enrollment would continue till September 30.
When asked about the grievances redressal mechanism, sources said that the government’s website has a redressal mechanism besides people can also lodge grievances through the toll free number.
When asked about the hospitals, sources said that 100 percent hospitals in the state have been brought under the ambit of MHIS.
The insurance cover under the phase III of MHIS has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.8 lakh. MHIS also has an additional senior citizen cover of Rs 30,000 this year.
Earlier, the government had signed an MoU with New India Assurance Company to roll out its enhanced phase-III of MHIS-III for nearly 30 lakh people.
