Meghalaya is the place to be when it comes to adventure sports. Pioneer Adventure Tours (PAT), which was established on August 15, 2011, organises such sport events in several places of the state.
The first adventure site is situated in Dawki along the Bangladesh border and provides activities like scuba diving, trekking, river rafting, cliff jumping, ziplining, caving, rock climbing, rappelling, canyoning and camping.
Sports enthusiasts and adventure lovers can stay for a few days at PAT’s camps and experience the thrill.
Another adventure site is in Dympep/Mawkdok, Cherrapunjee where we operate a zipline, the second in the North East. The line is 2,400-foot long and 700-foot in height. PAT says in a statement that it intends to expand the zipline to 6 km across the valley towards Cherrapunjee.
PAT not only provides adventure opportunity but also helps generate employment in villages. “Through our activities we have been able to generate employment in remote and backward areas and have contributed positively to their economic empowerment. Expansion of our activities will have a direct bearing on rural economics and provide a multitude of opportunities to the locals,” PAT said in the statement.
